Summary:
Operation Christmas
The Christmas holiday season is special but can also be bittersweet to those in need. Operation Christmas is our special annual holiday outreach project. In preparation for the event, hundreds of people carefully pack a shoebox, churches and Sunday School classes donate food items, then these items fill the Center. At the center, more volunteers pack the food baskets, organize the gifts for delivery, and map out delivery routes.
On the 3rd Saturday of each December, more than a hundred volunteers from churches across the city come together to distribute the food baskets and children’s gifts. Each year, approximately 600 Indianapolis families gratefully receive food for a holiday meal and over 1,200 children excitedly receive a Christmas gift shoebox stuffed with small toys and personal items.
Beyond sharing Jesus’ love at Christmas, this annual event brings us in contact with many people to whom we will have the opportunity to minister through the year.
Summer Block Party
The summer is for picnics and community events. Each summer the Baptist Center hosts a neighborhood block party for our community. This is a time for celebration with our neighbors, but more importantly with those we have served through the year. While the agenda is food and fun, this is an important outreach to show the love of Jesus Christ and share the Gospel. Block Party video provides you with a quick look at the festivities. The event is held on the 4th of July from 5:00pm to 9:30pm.
Metro Mission Mania
A summer mission project is a special blessing to those served and those serving. Adult, college, and church youth mission groups from around the country choose to travel to Indianapolis to partner in ministry with the Baptist Center during Metro Mission Mania. Mission projects are typically scheduled at Spring Break or during the summer months. These projects include a variety of ministry activities to children, senior citizens, the homeless, and single parent families. We also connect mission groups with other inner-city ministries to provide the broadest and richest mission experience possible.
Whether a week long Bible club, street evangelism, or a service project, each mission project is an opportunity to share Jesus’ love with and meet the needs of those living in downtown Indianapolis. Contact us for how you might serve God and the people of Indianapolis through this mission opportunity.
Other Ministry Events
We continually seek ways to implement the vision of the Center in ways that impact people where they live. From our location in downtown Indianapolis, we are positioned to be a ministry hub for your mission group. We can be the point from which you can direct Christian service and ministry into apartment communities served by the Center. Whether for a week or for a year, the Baptist Center is committed to enable, train, and send interested groups serving apartment communities through seminars, Bible clubs, and other focused ministries.
