The Baptist Center
Metro Baptist Center daily expresses the love of Jesus Christ by meeting the total needs of the person:
- Physical – as we provide emergency food and clothing assistance to anyone in need.
- Emotional -through loving Christian caregiving
- Spiritual – as each person served is offered prayer and the Word of God.
We also provide ongoing support through Bible studies and a job placement program. It is our prayer that you will come to personally know the Lord Jesus Christ and become actively involved in a Bible believing church.
Our ministry serves you and other individuals in Indianapolis and Marion County in the following ways:
- Food and Clothing Pantry
- Celebrate Recovery
- Support Groups
- Nehemiah & Ezra Houses
- Cornerstone Christian Fellowship
- Weekly Schedule
We are located at 952 N. Pennsylvania Street in downtown Indianapolis. To find more information regarding the center and ministry services, we can be reached at 317.687.0075 or by email.
Food & Clothing Pantry
Are you in need of emergency food or clothing?
Each Tuesday and Thursday the center Food & Clothing Pantry is open from 10:00am to 2:00pm. During this ministry time, you will meet with a caregiver, receive Biblical counsel and prayer, hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, ‘shop’ for needed clothes, and receive essential food. Be sure to bring a form of identification as well as a rent receipt or utility bill with your name and address on it.
You will receive food for the body, mind, and soul.
Celebrate Recovery
Are you struggling with hurts, habits, or hang-ups? Are you ready to join with others in this same situation in a safe, caring, confidential place?
On Tuesday evening at 6:00pm, the Baptist Center offers the Celebrate Recovery program in partnership with Cornerstone Christian Fellowship. Celebrate Recovery is a nationwide 12 Step Recovery Program based on the Bible that celebrates “God’s healing power in our lives through 8 Recovery Principles. By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors.” (Pastor John Baker, founder). Our Celebrate Recovery meetings are open to all adults who are ready to seek freedom and to grow spiritually.
IF you are ready for recovery, come celebrate with us at the Center on Tuesday evenings.
Support Groups
English poet and Pastor John Donne wrote many years ago that “No man is an island, entire of itself”. As we encounter the challenges of life, we realize that we are not as strong as we let on to those around us. Each of us needs a close group of like-minded Christ followers with whom we can share our burdens. With this support group we will share our specific concerns, we will study and apply Scripture to these concerns, and we will pray for God’s work in our life. These are times of challenge but also of personal spiritual strengthening.
- Men’s Support Ministry meets on Thursday at 5:00 pm.
- Women’s Support Ministry meets on Friday at 7:00 pm.
Life IS hard; but God knows our concerns and “is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us” (Eph. 3:20, ).NASB Join us, be strengthened by the work of God.
Nehemiah & Ezra Houses
The Baptist Center works in partnership with Cornerstone Christian Fellowship to help women coming out of prison. The church operates two homes for this purpose. Ezra and Nehemiah were instrumental in rebuilding the life of Israelites in the Old Testament. Nehemiah wrote that “The God of heaven will give us success. We His servants will start rebuilding …” (Neh. 2:20, NIV). It is in this spirit that the Baptist Center joins with Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in working to rebuild lives through the ‘house project’.
Nehemiah (since 2004) and Ezra Houses (open April 2016) are focused on ministering to women who have been in prison and helping them to rebuild their lives on the foundation of Jesus Christ. Our goal through the work of these two women’s transitional homes is to help them to rebuild their lives through:
- Appropriately managing addictions.
- Starting or strengthening their relationship with Jesus Christ
- Developing the means to support and care for themselves.
- Learning how to interact responsibly with their families and society.
You will accomplish these key life skills through biblically centered education, counseling, and life skills training. This work is based on your commitment to actively participate in Celebrate Recovery meetings, regularly attend church, and participate in a weekly women’s Bible study.
If you are:
- Female, over age 18;
- Have been recently released from prison;
- Held back by your personal history of alcohol abuse, drug abuse, or other addictions;
- AND you are committed to rebuilding your life through the power of GodThen applications are accepted at the Baptist Center Monday through Thursday 9:00 to 4:00. Contact us at 317.687.0075 for the opportunity to rebuild your life.
Cornerstone Christian Fellowship
As The Center meets emergency needs and provides Christian care, we believe that each person we touch needs regular, ongoing spiritual strengthening through regularly meeting with fellow Christ followers and worshiping in a local church.
Cornerstone Christian Fellowship is a multicultural group of believers representing the diversity of downtown Indianapolis. Many of those attending Cornerstone have been served by the Center while others are giving back by volunteering in the church. We welcome you to join us. Sunday School for all ages is at 9:15 am with Worship at 10:15 am.
Although a separate 501.C3 organization from the Center, we work closely with Cornerstone to share the gospel and disciple those coming to know Christ. Key partnering ministries are Celebrate Recovery, Men’s Support Ministry, and Women’s Support Ministry.
